The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has confirmed an incident at the Bungoma Law Court where a firearm was accidentally discharged, leaving several people with minor injuries.
According to the DCI, the incident occurred at around 10:50 am when PC Cornellious Murey accidentally fired a round from his Ceska pistol.

The bullet ricocheted, injuring a prison officer on the chin, three civilians, and the officer himself.
All the victims were rushed to a medical facility and are reported to be in fair condition.
The DCI said it is working closely with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and the Judiciary to establish the circumstances of the incident.
The agency further noted that appropriate action will be taken in line with the Service Standing Orders to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
“The DCI remains committed to ensuring public safety and upholding the highest standards of professionalism within our ranks,” the statement read.
