Nyandarua Senator John Methu has raised fresh allegations regarding State House meetings, questioning what he termed as excessive spending when President Ruto hosts different groups.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Methu claimed that during a recent event, 12,000 women from Maendeleo Ya Wanawake were each allegedly given Ksh10,000 at State House, a move he estimated amounted to about Ksh120 million in a single sitting.
He further alleged that during the Akorino visit to State House on Sunday, participants were reportedly given Ksh3,000 each instead of an expected Ksh10,000, sparking dissatisfaction among some attendees.
“I hear today the Akorino were being given 3,000, they were expecting 10,000,” Methu said, adding that he was contacted by individuals who felt disappointed by the alleged disparity in payouts.
The senator questioned the sustainability of such practices, arguing that a country shouldn’t be governed in such a manner.
“How do we build an economy by giving people handouts?” he posed.
Methu also hit out at Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, claiming that he spends Ksh 8 million every day on choppers flying to different parts of the country for political mobilization.
“How can we run a country like that?” he added.
