Detectives in Mombasa have linked two suspects arrested yesterday to a series of high-profile robberies in Bondo, Siaya County, captured on CCTV earlier this month.
Collins Ochieng, also known as Voke, 22, and Timothy Omondi Mgowe, 23, are alleged to have been part of an armed gang involved in robbing shops and civilians in Bondo Sub-County on February 4, 2026.
The incidents, widely circulated online via CCTV footage, caused panic among residents and drew national attention.
Police forensic ballistics examiners are currently analyzing an AK-47 rifle recovered during the Mombasa operation.
Preliminary reports suggest the weapon is likely the same one used in the Bondo robberies, as evidenced by the CCTV footage.
Authorities have emphasized that the forensic examination is ongoing, leaving no room for speculation in linking the suspects to the crimes.
The suspects remain in custody as detectives continue to investigate the extent of their alleged criminal activities and any potential connections to other incidents in the region.
