Confirmed: Raila Odinga Hospitalised At King’s College Hospital London – Here Is What He Is Suffering From (Photos)

Former Prime Minister and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has been admitted to King’s College Hospital London.

Mr Odinga reportedly left Kenya on Friday, and a widely circulated photograph on social media suggests that the veteran politician is receiving treatment at the hospital’s branch in Dubai.

Although the ODM party issued a statement on Sunday reassuring the public that their leader was in good health, the image has fuelled speculation to the contrary. The party explained that Mr Odinga had merely travelled abroad for personal reasons, insisting he was neither unwell nor hospitalised.

ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale went as far as stating that the former premier was in Dubai watching the English Premier League clash between Arsenal and West Ham.

However, technology-savvy Kenyans challenged these claims. By using artificial intelligence tools to trace the photograph’s metadata, it was confirmed that the picture originated from King’s College Hospital London’s Dubai branch.

King’s College Hospital London is globally renowned for its specialisation in liver disease, oncology, cardiology, orthopaedics, breast health and neurology.

This is not the first time Mr Odinga has faced health challenges. In June 2010, while serving as prime minister, he underwent brain surgery at Nairobi Hospital to remove a blood clot. The operation was successful, and his condition stabilised soon after.

In 2017, Mr Odinga was admitted twice—first in March, when he was treated at Karen Hospital for severe fatigue and food poisoning, and later in July in Mombasa after a similar incident during political rallies.

More recently, in March 2021, he was admitted to Nairobi Hospital for medical checks, during which he tested positive for COVID-19.

His current condition has once again drawn concern from supporters and the political class, with many awaiting official confirmation regarding the precise nature of his illness.
