CS Joho’s Personal Assistant Linked To Cocaine Smuggling at JKIA-Photos

Fresh revelations have emerged connecting a senior government aide to a sophisticated drug trafficking network operating through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

On Tuesday, KTN News aired a groundbreaking investigative documentary titled “Cocaine Highway,” which exposed how international drug traffickers have been exploiting security loopholes at JKIA. The exposé revealed that traffickers often bribe airport staff and security officers to smuggle drugs through the country’s busiest airport, using it as a major transit hub to Europe and beyond.

The documentary went viral after it showed CCTV footage of security personnel at JKIA aiding a British national, Jesse Bryan Da Mata Dos Santos, 42, in smuggling cocaine worth millions of shillings. He was later arrested at Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom by Metropolitan Police.

Shocking many Kenyans, the investigation also uncovered the identity of the Kenyan accomplice seen escorting the British national. He has been identified as Mohamed Muamar, a former political aspirant and close aide to Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs, Hassan Joho.

Muamar, who unsuccessfully contested for the Komarock MCA seat in Nairobi on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket, currently serves as Joho’s personal assistant.

The connection has reignited public scrutiny on CS Joho, who has previously been linked to narcotics cases. Notably, in 2011, the United States government named Joho, alongside businessman Harun Mwau, former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, and current ICT Cabinet Secretary William Kabogo, as persons of interest in drug trafficking investigations. A confidential report was handed to the then-Internal Security Minister, the late Prof. George Saitoti, who tragically died in a plane crash in 2012.

The Cocaine Highway documentary has sparked national outrage, with many questioning the integrity of JKIA’s security systems. As Kenya’s primary international gateway, the idea that it is being used as a conduit for global drug trafficking has raised serious concerns over airport oversight and government accountability.

Below are photos of Mohamed Muamar, who is in charge of coordinating the smuggling of narcotics inside JKIA.
