A dramatic incident unfolded in Kilimani after two young men from Dandora Phase 5 allegedly attempted to snatch a phone, only for the mission to end in tragedy.
According to an undercover police officer, the suspects — identified as Mburu and Bennah — reportedly left their neighborhood to carry out the robbery in the upscale Nairobi suburb.
However, their plan quickly fell apart when members of the public cornered them moments after the attempted theft.
In the ensuing chaos, Mburu was subjected to mob justice and collapsed on the spot, succumbing to his injuries.
His body was later taken to the morgue.
His accomplice, Bennah, survived the ordeal but is said to be in critical condition at a city hospital, receiving treatment under police guard.
Sources have since revealed that Mburu came from a well-to-do family, a revelation that has shocked many who knew him.
Despite his privileged background, his decision to risk his life over a single mobile phone has left his family and community reeling in disbelief.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that suspects should be handed over to the police for due process.
