In a swift and well-coordinated crackdown on mobile banking fraud in Mulot, detectives launched an operation that culminated in the arrest of five suspects at the busy Mulot market.
The suspects — Daniel Njenga Njeri, Salome Chepngeno, Nelson Kipsang Langat, Erick Cheruiyot, and Geofrey Cheruiyot — were cornered and apprehended before being taken into custody for processing.
They are expected to face multiple charges, including conspiracy to defraud, engaging in organised crime, and acquisition of proceeds of crime, among others.
According to investigators, the operation is part of an ongoing effort to dismantle criminal networks behind rampant mobile money fraud schemes that have targeted unsuspecting Kenyans across the country.
The DCI says the successful raid demonstrates its unwavering commitment to fighting digital fraud and protecting Kenyans from cybercriminals who exploit mobile banking platforms.
