A Nairobi-based detective operating under the codename Saigon Punisher has identified a man filmed robbing a woman in broad daylight along a busy road in the Kileleshwa area.
The incident, captured by a passing motorist, shows a young man dragging a woman to the ground near a highway before snatching her belongings and sprinting away, completely unbothered by witnesses around him. The clip spread rapidly across social media, with many noting it occurred shortly after a political rally, fueling speculation that the suspect may have been part of an organized group of hired goons.
Saigon Punisher, widely feared across Nairobi’s Eastlands estates, including Dandora, Kariobangi, Kayole, and Mathare, wasted no time. Known for publicly naming and warning criminals through social media, the self-styled online vigilante dug into the footage and came back with a name.
“The individual seen in the footage is identified as Imaar from Dandora Phase 1. Hiding behind speed and street antics won’t save anyone this time. You can run marathons all you want, but you can’t outrun accountability,” he wrote on Facebook.
He followed up with a direct warning to anyone connected to the incident, stating that the era of impunity is over and that relevant authorities have been notified.
Saigon Punisher remains a divisive figure in Kenya. Many residents credit him with deterring crime in estates where police presence is thin. Critics, however, argue that vigilante justice, however well-intentioned, operates outside the law and carries its own dangers.
Here is what Saigon Punisher posted on Facebook.
