A team of hawk-eyed detectives have arrested a notorious drug trafficker in Njiru, recovering a significant haul of cannabis, in a well-coordinated operation that dismantled the illicit trade in the city’s outskirts.
The suspect, 30-year-old Caleb Ochieng Nisa, who had long been playing a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the law, finally met his match.
Acting on a tip-off from vigilant members of the public who refused to sit back while their neighbourhood went to the dogs, the sleuths drawn from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) and the Anti Narcotics Unit (ANU) executed a targeted raid that caught the suspect flat-footed.
Before he could even think of an escape route, the detectives breached his fortress, ending his short-lived reign of impunity.
Upon a thorough search of his house, detectives recovered six and a half sacks of bhang, and six empty sacks.
Also recovered is a mountain of polythene materials, laying bare the inner workings of a well-oiled packaging and distribution syndicate designed to poison the streets and ruin the lives of our youth.
Ochieng is currently a guest of the state undergoing processing awaiting his day in court to answer for his crime.
Meanwhile, the seized narcotics have been secured as exhibit.
