A 21-year-old man suspected of committing robbery with violence was arrested in Kisumu after a dramatic chase with law enforcement officers.

The suspect, identified as Kelvin Oduor, alias Kevoo, was cornered after Kisumu Sub-County Law Enforcement Officers on patrol heard gunshots and swiftly responded to the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had attacked a security guard, robbing him of his mobile phone and rubber shoes before fleeing.

Determined not to let him escape, the officers launched a hot pursuit, which ended dramatically when the suspect was found hiding inside a water storage drum on the rooftop of the Patel Sarmaji Building.

He was arrested on the spot, and an AK-47 rifle loaded with a magazine containing five rounds of ammunition was recovered from his possession.

The suspect is currently being detained at Kisumu Central Police Station, pending arraignment in court.
