- Enter your National ID number

- Enter your mobile number and email address
- Create a strong password
- Verify your account via the OTP sent to your phone
- You now have an active eCitizen account
How to Apply for a Passport on eCitizen
- Log in to your eCitizen account
- Under ‘Department of Immigration,’ select ‘Passport Application.’
- Choose New Application or Renewal
- Fill in your personal details and upload a passport photo
- Select your preferred passport collection centre
- Pay the fee via M-PESA (KSh 4,550 for standard and KSh 9,100 for urgent)
- Book your biometric appointment at your chosen Immigration office
- Attend your appointment with your original ID and documents
Processing takes 10-15 business days for standard and 3-5 days for urgent applications.
How to Renew Your Driving Licence on eCitizen
- Log in to eCitizen and go to NTSA services
- Select ‘Driving Licence Renewal.’
- Confirm your details and current licence information
- Pay via M-PESA (KSh 600 for Class A, KSh 1,050 for Class BCE)
- Your renewed licence is mailed to your registered address
You must renew before your licence expires. Driving on an expired licence attracts a KSh 10,000 fine.
How to Register a Business on eCitizen
- Go to eCitizen and select ‘Business Registration Service.’
- Choose your business type: Sole Proprietor, Partnership or Limited Company
- Search for your preferred business name to check availability
- Reserve the name (KSh 150 fee)
- Fill in the registration details and upload the required documents
- Pay the registration fee via M-PESA
- A certificate of registration is issued digitally within 3 business days
How to Pay for Government Services Using M-PESA on eCitizen
All eCitizen payments go through M-PESA via the Lipa Na M-PESA Business Number 206206. When you reach the payment step on eCitizen, the system generates a reference number. Use this reference number when making a payment from your M-PESA.
