The family of former Likuyani and Lugari Member of Parliament, Enoch Kibunguchy, has called for thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death, raising concerns over what doctors allegedly described as suspected food poisoning.
Kibunguchy, 72, passed away after a prolonged illness while undergoing treatment at Eldoret Hospital.
According to family members, medical professionals informed them that he may have suffered food poisoning, which reportedly led to a rapid deterioration of his health.
Relatives say the former legislator experienced kidney failure, intestinal bleeding, and breathing complications, conditions that worsened swiftly despite receiving medical care.
The sudden demise has left the family questioning how the suspected poisoning could have occurred and whether foul play may have been involved.
“We want answers on what exactly happened and how he could have been poisoned,” a family member said, calling on relevant authorities to launch an independent investigation.
Enoch Kibunguchy served as Lugari MP from 2003 to 2007 before later representing Likuyani Constituency for two consecutive terms between 2013 and 2022.
During his political career, he was known for his involvement in development initiatives within his constituencies.
The family is now urging law enforcement agencies and health authorities to establish the cause of death and provide clarity on the circumstances that led to the former MP’s passing.
Investigations are expected to shed more light as the family awaits official findings.
