The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, made a grand entrance in Nyeri on Thursday, arriving in a luxurious Mercedes-Benz convertible adorned with the party’s colors, as he launched the much-anticipated Tuko Kadi voter registration initiative.
The initiative, which targets young Kenyans, aims to encourage first-time voters and those yet to acquire national identification cards to register ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
Speaking to a crowd of enthusiastic youths, Gachagua emphasized the critical role that young people play in shaping the country’s leadership through the ballot.
“Young people must not remain spectators in national affairs,” Gachagua told the gathering. “It is your responsibility to ensure that you are fully registered and ready to vote. Your voice matters, and your participation will determine the future of this country.”
The Tuko Kadi campaign has been gaining momentum across several counties, aiming to make voter registration more accessible and appealing, particularly to the youth demographic.
Gachagua’s visit to Nyeri comes as part of a broader nationwide push to mobilize young voters, who are seen as a crucial voting bloc in the upcoming elections.
