A Ghanaian man visiting Kenya for vacation got the shock of his life after the Uber he was riding in was attacked by emotional mourners paying tribute to the late opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The tourist, who had just arrived in Nairobi and was on his way to his hotel, said he had no idea what was happening when a crowd suddenly surrounded the cab, banging on the windows and shouting Raila’s name.
The incident occurred along Thika Road, where thousands of supporters were headed to Kasarani Stadium to honor Raila Odinga, whose death has thrown the country into mourning.
Social media users have since reacted with mixed emotions — some apologizing to the visitor for the chaotic welcome, while others joked that he had just experienced Kenya’s raw passion for Baba firsthand.
