A man identified in mobile money records as “Felix Munene” is reportedly linked to the dramatic theft of a brand-new lorry in Kanyoni, according to the vehicle owner.
The incident unfolded after the suspect allegedly posed as a legitimate customer looking to purchase machine-cut stones.
Reports indicate that he first visited Kanyoni to inquire about the lorry driver, before later confirming the order and being picked up at Kamwangi.
The driver and turn boy reportedly drove him to a quarry, where the suspect allegedly alighted at the gate after handing over cash for the payment.
They then proceeded to Ngurweini, where the two employees claim they were ambushed by a gang armed with crude weapons, including a gun and machetes.
The employees were tied up and left at the scene while the lorry was driven away.
The stolen vehicle was reportedly later spotted near a coffee factory, partially covered by a tent.
Attempts to trace it using car trackers reportedly failed due to network issues, and the owner claims that three tracking devices had been removed.
The lorry owner has appealed to the public to provide any information that could help in recovering the stolen vehicle. Police are investigating the matter.
