Loima Member of Parliament Protus Akujah has accused Turkana Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai of physically assaulting him in what he describes as an unprovoked attack at the Lodwar Airport VIP lounge.
According to a statement issued by the legislator, the incident occurred on Sunday, November 9, 2025, shortly before 11:00 a.m.
Akujah claims he was seated in the lounge when Governor Lomorukai entered, greeted him, and took a nearby seat.
Moments later, the Governor allegedly began accusing him of undermining his leadership, leading to a verbal altercation that quickly escalated into a physical confrontation.
“He started provoking me and accusing me falsely. When he attacked me, I stood up and struck him back in self-defense,” said Akujah in his statement.
The scuffle was reportedly broken up by the Governor’s bodyguard, who intervened and led Lomorukai into a separate room as airport security restrained the MP to prevent further escalation.
Other leaders present, including Jackson Nakusa, reportedly urged Akuja to “calm down.”

Here is a police statement on the incident.
