Detectives in Nairobi have launched investigations after the body of a man was found inside a lodging in Eastleigh in what police suspect to be a case of suicide.
The deceased, identified as Ali Ahmed Shire, 33, a Somali national, had checked into the guest house along Second Avenue, Eastleigh, on November 2, 2025.
According to police reports, Shire had booked the room for a week but failed to leave the following day, prompting concern from the hotel management.
After repeated knocks went unanswered, attendants forcibly opened the door — only to be met with a shocking scene.
Shire’s body was found slumped on the bed, with a bedsheet tied around his neck and hanging from the ceiling.
Police officers from Pangani Police Station arrived at the scene and moved the body to a local mortuary pending postmortem and burial arrangements.
The motive behind the death remains unclear, though authorities have not ruled out the possibility of foul play as investigations continue.
Police say suicide cases have been on the rise across Kenya in recent months, with mental health experts calling for more awareness and early intervention for people showing signs of emotional distress.
