Residents of Kilibwoni Ward in Nandi County are struggling to come to terms with a heartbreaking domestic tragedy that has left a young family shattered and a child orphaned.

Dancun Kimaru Limo is reported to have fatally attacked his wife, Jelagat, believed to hail from Bonjoge in Nandi South, before jumping into a nearby dam in what authorities suspect was a suicide attempt.

According to preliminary reports, the couple had been experiencing persistent domestic disputes in recent months.

Neighbours and sources close to the family claim the man had allegedly accused his wife of infidelity, claims that are believed to have fueled frequent arguments.

Tensions are said to have escalated on the day of the incident, culminating in the fatal confrontation.

In the shocking turn of events, Limo allegedly slit his wife’s throat before fleeing to a nearby dam and throwing himself into the water, leaving behind their child.

The double tragedy has sent shockwaves through the quiet village, with residents describing the incident as both disturbing and unexpected.

Many expressed disbelief, noting that the couple often shared cheerful photos on social media that portrayed what appeared to be a stable and loving family.

“It’s hard to believe something like this could happen to them. They looked happy together,” said one resident.

Local authorities have launched investigations into the incident as the community mourns the loss of two lives and rallies around the surviving child.
