The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has introduced a new automated Instant Fines Traffic Management System aimed at improving enforcement of traffic rules across the country.

Under the new system, Kenyan motorists who commit traffic offenses will now receive immediate SMS notifications informing them of the violation and the penalty issued.

In a statement released on Monday, NTSA said the system has been designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in the enforcement of traffic laws.

According to the authority, the process is fully automated and operates without human involvement, a move that is expected to minimise manipulation while ensuring accountability in traffic management.

Drivers issued with fines through the system will be required to settle the penalties through KCB Bank branches within seven days.

The authority warned that motorists who fail to pay within the stipulated period will attract additional charges on the outstanding amount.

NTSA also noted that any driver or vehicle with unpaid fines will be blocked from accessing services on the NTSA platforms until the penalties are cleared.

Motorists have been urged to strictly follow traffic regulations and promptly respond to any official notifications sent to them.

The introduction of the automated fines system forms part of the government’s broader efforts to improve road safety and strengthen compliance with traffic laws across Kenya.
