Parklands detectives have arrested a man who had been parading himself as a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) brigadier, allegedly preying on desperate youths by promising fake recruitment opportunities.

The suspect, Joshua Mutui Muimi, is accused of promoting himself from civilian to “KDF brigadier” despite having never stepped foot on a parade square.

Detectives say he had been running a lucrative scheme, issuing fake admission and recruitment letters to hopeful youths seeking entry into the Recruit Training School (RTS), Eldoret.

Acting on intelligence, officers tracked him to his rented apartment in Kilimani, where they found him fully dressed in Kenya Air Force regalia, allegedly to boost his credibility while defrauding victims.

A detailed search of the apartment unearthed several incriminating items, including:six fake admission letters bearing the same serial number, seven fingerprint forms, and a Yilmaz Defence Industry ammunition manufacturing manual

The suspect is currently in custody undergoing processing ahead of arraignment.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid falling victim to fraudulent recruitment schemes, reminding Kenyans that genuine KDF enlistment is free, fair, and transparent.
