Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has launched a sharp attack on President William Ruto and National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah following a politically charged rally in Kikuyu.
In a strongly worded statement issued after the event, Gachagua accused the two leaders of using state machinery to intimidate political opponents, branding them “the greatest political cowards in the country.”
He further claimed that the deployment of police, use of teargas, and alleged live ammunition could not suppress what he described as a growing political movement gaining momentum across the region.
“The use of police, live ammunition and teargas cannot stop an idea whose time has come,” Gachagua declared.
The former Deputy President also lauded Kikuyu residents for their turnout, praising their courage and resilience amid a tense political atmosphere.
He said their presence sent a strong message that they would not be intimidated.
According to Gachagua, the crowd’s response reflected a shift in political thinking as the country edges closer to the 2027 general elections.
“You have proven you cannot be intimidated by Ruto and Ichung’wah by whatever means, and you made hard decisions about 2027,” he said.
Gachagua asserted that President Ruto would only serve one term, adding that Ichung’wah would “follow him to Sugoi,”.
He concluded by thanking the people of Kikuyu for what he described as a warm and heroic reception, pledging not to let them down and invoking blessings upon them.
