The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has unveiled plans to upgrade the Kyuso–Tseikuru Road in Kitui County, a route leading to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s native home.
The project, announced through a tender notice on December 23, will strengthen and upgrade the road to durable bitumen standards.
KeNHA stated that a mandatory pre-tender site visit will take place at Kandwia Shopping Centre on January 15, 2026, and interested contractors can access documents via the Authority’s website or the Public Procurement Information Portal.
The development is a major boost for Kitui residents, long hampered by poor road access to schools, markets, and healthcare.
While framed as part of the national infrastructure agenda, some Kenyans view the project as politically motivated amid recent exchanges between Kalonzo and President William Ruto, who recently questioned why the road remained unpaved despite Kalonzo’s decades in public office.
