A dispute between Mamlaka Hill Chapel founder Bishop Charles Ng’ang’a and a long-serving church member has escalated to court, with both parties trading serious accusations.
According to filings before the Chief Magistrate’s Court at Milimani in Nairobi, the Bishop moved to court seeking defamation orders to stop the member from publishing what he describes as false and malicious claims about him.
However, the respondent has pushed back, accusing the cleric of having an affair with his wife and allegedly wrecking his marriage.
The man claims he discovered the alleged relationship in October 2025 after accessing a mobile phone that had previously been used by his wife before being handed over to their daughter.
He told the court that he found a series of inappropriate messages exchanged between the two.
In one of the messages cited in the filings, the Bishop allegedly told the woman, “Tomorrow, we’re showering in my office. It’s you and me. It’s why I need you in my life,” accompanied by winking emojis.
The respondent is also seeking court intervention to stop the Bishop from barring him from attending services at the church, even as the Bishop seeks orders to restrain him from making further public statements about the matter.
He further noted that his wife has been an employee of the church for over two decades, serving in various administrative roles, including as an assistant to senior pastors and bishops.
When the matter came up for directions on Wednesday, Magistrate Martin Osano urged both parties to exercise restraint and maintain decorum as the case proceeds.
“Talk to your clients to maintain peace and decorum. They are people we look forward to in society,” the magistrate directed lawyers representing both sides.
Bishop Ng’ang’a is a prominent preacher with church branches in Ruaka, Diani, Nairobi and Kisumu, as well as affiliated congregations in Berlin, Germany, and New Jersey in the United States.
