President William Ruto is reportedly leaving no stone unturned in his quest to secure re-election during the 2027 presidential contest.
With mounting political pressure and growing dissent from within his own ranks, the Head of State is said to be working tirelessly to bring his critics into his camp before the next general election.
Among those allegedly targeted for persuasion is Canada-based Kenyan lawyer and author Dr Miguna Miguna. Miguna, best known for his book Peeling Back the Mask: A Quest for Justice in Kenya, is said to have attracted the attention of Ruto’s inner circle due to his outspoken nature and large following both in Kenya and abroad.
According to controversial blogger Scophine Aoko Otieno, popularly known as Maverick Aoko, Miguna recently held a private meeting with President Ruto at one of his residences in Nairobi. During the encounter, Aoko claimed that Miguna was offered a handsome package to join what she mockingly referred to as Ruto’s “Tutam Praise and Worship Team”.
The alleged offer reportedly included a payment of KSh 30 million to align himself with the president’s political agenda. In addition, Aoko alleged that Ruto promised to use his influence to secure a position within Kenya’s National Intelligence Service (NIS) for one of Miguna’s daughters, who is said to be an escort in Canada.
Aoko further claimed that part of the deal involved Miguna launching verbal attacks against the united opposition, particularly figures such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
She shared her allegations through a post on her X account, sparking widespread discussion across Kenyan social media platforms.
