Shock and grief have engulfed the family of controversial Kenyan televangelist Gilbert Deya after his widow, Mary Deya, was found dead at her home in Bondo, barely nine months after the preacher died in a tragic road accident.
The heartbreaking news has dealt another devastating blow to the family, which has been struggling to come to terms with Deya’s sudden death last year.
Their daughter, Rebecca Deya, who lives in the United Kingdom, shared an emotional message on social media expressing the pain of losing both parents within such a short period.
“Mum, why did you leave us barely a year after we lost dad? I was calling your phone to wish you a Happy Mother’s Day only to realize you are no more. Two funerals in six months. Dad, Mum… this is so painful,” she wrote.
Her message touched many Kenyans online, with social media users sending messages of comfort and support to the grieving family.
The family is now mourning the second tragedy in less than a year, sparking an outpouring of condolences from Kenyans both at home and in the diaspora
