New controversy has emerged over the death of gospel singer Betty Bayo, after her mother, speaking from the United States, made explosive allegations during a virtual interview with Shiru Wa Oakland.
While earlier reports indicated that Betty had been battling leukemia before her death, Mama Betty now claims her daughter did not die from illness, alleging instead that her husband, Tash, may have contributed to her suffering in the months leading to her death.
According to the grieving mother, Betty and Tash had reportedly separated three months before her passing, with Tash returning to the United States shortly afterward.
She says she was shocked to learn that he later flew back to Kenya to check in Betty’s body at Kenyatta Hospital.
Mama Betty further claimed that her daughter had faced financial strain, alleging Tash had taken large sums of money from her during their marriage.
She also referenced a distressing phone call Betty allegedly made before her death, expressing fear and saying she felt unsafe.
After the burial, Mama Betty says the family had agreed that Betty’s sisters would care for the children — an arrangement she claims has not been honoured.
She alleges that documents such as the death certificate and even her own ID remained under Tash’s control, further complicating the situation.
The distraught mother also expressed disappointment toward some of Betty’s close friends, saying that some stopped picking her calls after the tragedy.
She thanked Prophet Kanyari for stepping in to support the children and urged him to continue offering guidance.
