Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has revealed that the The Linda Mwananchi team safely returned to Nairobi after a highly successful rally in Kakamega, but the journey was reportedly marred by troubling interference at Kisumu International Airport.

Taking to social media, Sifuna, a prominent figure in the Linda Mwananchi movement, claimed that rogue airport officials, allegedly working in coordination with state agents, attempted to frustrate him and other politicians traveling with the team.

According to Sifuna, a group of individuals barricaded parts of the airport, raising serious concerns about the safety of passengers transiting through Kisumu.

“We need to hear from the Kenya Airports Authority whether Kisumu is still an International Airport and whether they can guarantee the safety of all passengers transiting through here,” he said.

He further alleged that their commercial flight itineraries, booked from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), had been shared with operatives from the Ministry of Interior, knowingly putting their safety at risk.

Fortunately, the team received prior intelligence and adjusted their travel plans to avoid potential danger.

“This is not the sort of country we want to live in. We must change it. We will change it, Inshallah,” Sifuna said.
