Drama unfolded earlier today in Westlands, Nairobi after a man was caught dismantling a fibre-optic cable setup and a distribution box belonging to ET Net, an internet service provider.
Residents surrounded the suspect and interrogated him on the spot, demanding to know who he was working with and why he had targeted the connection point.
ET Net technicians who arrived at the scene condemned the recurring vandalism, saying they are often wrongly blamed for the damaged infrastructure.
“Watu husema ni sisi — mchana tunaweka hizi boxes, halafu jioni tunakuja kuzitoa. Lakini ona leo tumeshika mmoja wa wezi,” one of the technicians said at the scene, frustrated by the ongoing sabotage.
Police are expected to take over the matter as investigations continue.
