Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two women believed to be part of a drug distribution network operating within Mombasa County, as the agency intensifies its ongoing crackdown on narcotics trafficking at the Coast.
According to the DCI, the arrests followed a tip-off that led officers from the Anti-Narcotics Unit (ANU) to storm two separate houses in Bombolulu and Tudor’s Moroto area.
In the first operation at Bombolulu, detectives raided the home of 48-year-old Mary Achieng, who had allegedly converted her house into a secret stash point.
A thorough search of the premises led to the discovery of 58 large rolls of bhang, weighing approximately 8 kilograms, ingeniously hidden inside the ceiling of her toilet.
In a second raid in Tudor’s Moroto area, 42-year-old Farhiya Hassan Moulid Ajorani was apprehended after detectives uncovered a stockpile of marijuana in her residence.
Officers recovered 8 large rolls, 36 small rolls, 30 medium rolls, and an additional 10 small rolls concealed inside her handbag, all believed to be ready for sale.
Both suspects were taken into custody and are currently undergoing processing pending arraignment.
The DCI reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug networks in Mombasa and across the country, warning that the war on narcotics will continue to target both major traffickers and small-scale peddlers fueling addiction and insecurity in local communities.
