A cryptic social media post by Raila Odinga’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, has sparked widespread speculation online, coming just hours after the dramatic removal of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General.
Shortly after news emerged that the party’s National Executive Committee had relieved Sifuna of his duties during a meeting in Mombasa, Winnie took to social media with a brief but pointed message: “It’s not well.”
Although she did not directly reference the party’s decision, the timing of the post quickly caught the attention of social media users, with many interpreting it as a subtle expression of dissatisfaction or concern over the move.
Sifuna was replaced in an acting capacity by Deputy Secretary General Catherine Omanyo, who will hold the position until a substantive office holder is appointed.
The Nairobi Senator has recently ruffled feathers within ODM’s top leadership due to his outspoken political stance.
He has been a vocal critic of the broad-based government arrangement between ODM and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Sifuna has also publicly declared that he will not support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027 ,a position that sharply contrasts with sections of the party leadership who have shown willingness to cooperate with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
