Photos Of Gachagua’s Rally In Githurai That Is Making Ruto Gnash His Teeth

President William Ruto is reportedly losing sleep over the growing political influence of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has openly vowed to ensure Ruto serves only one term in office.

With the 2027 presidential election fast approaching, Gachagua has intensified his campaigns, positioning himself as a formidable challenger determined to weaken Ruto’s grip on the Mount Kenya region.

Gachagua, who was impeached in October last year under Ruto’s administration, has been on a mission to discredit the president and his leadership. He has been rallying residents of Mount Kenya, a vote-rich region, urging them to reject what he describes as mismanagement and betrayal by the current government.

With just under two years to the next general election, Gachagua’s aggressive grassroots mobilisation is increasingly becoming a thorn in Ruto’s side. Analysts say the president now faces an uphill battle, as the man once seen as his trusted ally is steadily turning into his most dangerous political rival.

Over the weekend, Gachagua embarked on an extensive campaign tour across Mount Kenya, attracting massive crowds at every stop. His rally in Githurai, regarded as the gateway to the region, was particularly remarkable. Thousands of supporters turned up to welcome him, flooding the area around the busy Githurai roundabout.

During the charged rally, Gachagua fiercely criticized the government, accusing senior officials of oppressing the youth and mismanaging public resources. He also officially declared his intention to run for the presidency in 2027, though he hinted at the possibility of working with other opposition leaders to form a united front capable of defeating Ruto.

According to insiders, there is growing panic within State House as Gachagua’s influence continues to expand. His message appears to be resonating strongly with voters who previously backed Ruto in the 2022 election.

Mount Kenya played a critical role in Ruto’s victory in 2022, contributing 47% of the total votes that propelled him to State House. If Gachagua successfully swings a significant portion of this voting bloc to his side, Ruto’s re-election bid could face serious jeopardy.

Below are photos from Gachagua’s electrifying rally in Githurai, a clear indication that the battle for the Mount Kenya vote has already begun in earnest.
