Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has suggested that former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka would easily defeat President William Ruto if he runs for the presidency in 2027.
With the united opposition, spearheaded by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Kalonzo Musyoka, shaping up to be a formidable challenge for Ruto’s re-election bid, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is reportedly making every effort to weaken and divide opposition leaders.
In a candid video, Raila—who has since joined Ruto’s broad-based government—was captured stating that Kalonzo is “ten times better” than the Head of State.
The former premier described Kalonzo as a principled and courageous leader who consistently stands with the people. He further praised him as a genuinely religious man, unlike Ruto, whom he accused of merely pretending to be devout.
Raila also reminded Kenyans that Kalonzo is selfless, pointing out that the Wiper leader supported his presidential candidacy in 2022 despite not being his running mate.
Concluding his remarks in the video, the ODM leader pledged his support for Kalonzo in the future.
The footage surfaced at a time when Kalonzo Musyoka has intensified his campaigns, vowing to be the opposition’s presidential flagbearer and to ensure William Ruto serves only a single term.
