A video has surfaced showing President William Ruto arriving at Moi Barracks in Eldoret to preside over this year’s Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Day celebrations held on Tuesday, October 14.
The footage captures the Head of State stepping out of a military helicopter, dressed in full combat uniform, marking the first time he has publicly donned the attire of the Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces.
KDF Day is commemorated annually to honour the men and women who serve in Kenya’s military, recognising their courage, sacrifice, and dedication to safeguarding the nation. The occasion also serves as a reminder of the armed forces’ broader mission — to protect, serve, and support all Kenyans.
In his message, President Ruto paid tribute to the country’s soldiers, describing them as “the heartbeat of our defence and the driving force behind national development.”
The celebration also highlighted the KDF’s ongoing commitment to community service, reflecting the belief that true military strength extends beyond defence operations to include compassion and support for the most vulnerable in society.
