Tension and panic gripped Kasarani Stadium after gunfire erupted during the public viewing of the late opposition leader Raila Odinga’s body.
The incident occurred as thousands of Kenyans gathered to pay their last respects to the veteran politician, whose passing has plunged the nation into mourning.
A video shared by CNN journalist Larry Madowo on his X account appeared to show armed men firing live bullets as the crowd scattered in confusion. T
The footage also captured individuals believed to be part of a security team taking instructions from a man in a suit.
Witnesses said the gunfire seemed to come from the upper stands of the stadium, sending mourners fleeing for safety.
According to Madowo, at least three people were confirmed dead and several others injured.
Security agencies swiftly moved in to restore order, sealing off parts of the venue as the programme later resumed.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident, which has sparked nationwide outrage and calls for accountability.
