Panic has gripped residents of Kitengela after a lone lioness was spotted roaming the neighborhood for several days, evading capture and leaving behind terrified families and mauled pets.
According to locals, officers from the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) have been camping in the area for more than a week, trying to track down the elusive big cat that seems to have mastered the art of hiding in plain sight.
Despite confining its movements to within a 500-meter radius, the lioness has managed to stay undetected—only appearing in CCTV footage that captures its nightly escapades: scaling perimeter walls, prowling backyards, and attacking dogs before disappearing into the darkness.
Authorities have warned residents to stay indoors at night and avoid unnecessary movement, as tension mounts over the predator’s next move.
The mysterious lioness remains at large, with frustrated residents now questioning KWS’ tracking methods as fear continues to grip the area.
