Controversial blogger Scophine Aoko Otieno, popularly known as Maverick Aoko, has made shocking claims about what allegedly led to the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga last Wednesday.
Raila, who was reportedly as fit as a butcher’s dog, suddenly fell ill two weeks earlier and was hospitalised in India. Though he appeared to be on the road to recovery, he tragically collapsed and died of a heart attack on Wednesday.
The late Raila, who was laid to rest on Sunday in a state funeral, surprised many Kenyans since he seemed perfectly healthy just a week before his death.
According to Maverick Aoko, Raila Odinga was allegedly poisoned in Dubai after declaring that there was no political agreement between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) regarding support for President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027.
“Who told you ODM will not have a candidate in 2027?” Raila reportedly asked ODM loyalists who were campaigning for Ruto’s re-election—among them Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga and Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi—a month ago.
Aoko claimed that the plot to eliminate Raila Odinga was allegedly conceived in Dubai during his meeting with KANU Party Leader Gideon Moi.
She further stated that Raila had earlier met with former President Uhuru Kenyatta, where the two discussed key national issues and the future of ODM.
During that meeting, Aoko alleged, Raila told Uhuru that ODM would not back Ruto’s re-election in 2027 — and that, according to her, is when the plan to silence him began.
