Residents of Kiboswa in Kisumu West were left in shock after a woman allegedly abandoned her 2-year-old daughter at a local salon and never returned to pick her up.
According to witnesses, the woman arrived at the salon carrying the little girl and introduced her as her daughter.
She then politely asked the salon attendants to watch over the child “for a few minutes” as she stepped out to run a quick errand.
But the minutes turned into hours — and the woman never came back.
When it became clear that she was not returning, the worried salon workers alerted neighbors, who later reported the matter to Dago Police Station.
Police officers responded swiftly, and the child was processed before being taken to a children’s rescue center, where she is now safe and receiving care.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident and are appealing to members of the public to help identify the little girl or locate her family.
Social media users have joined the appeal, widely sharing the child’s photos in hopes of reuniting her with her relatives.
The motive behind the woman’s actions remains unclear, with investigators exploring whether the abandonment was intentional or driven by distressing personal circumstances.
