Residents of Kinale are reeling in shock and grief following the brutal murder of a young boy who had been sent to buy unga from a nearby shop on Wednesday evening.
According to reports, the boy’s mother had been persistently harassed by a man who had been making unwanted romantic advances toward her — advances she firmly rejected.
In a fit of rage and revenge, the man is said to have turned his anger toward her innocent son.
When the child failed to return home, the mother, together with concerned villagers, launched an overnight search, combing through nearby fields and paths in desperation.
Tragically, their search ended in heartbreak when the boy’s lifeless body was discovered in a maize plantation the next day.
Later that evening, the prime suspect, the same man accused of stalking and harassing the mother, surrendered to police, sparking outrage across the community.
Residents have condemned the heinous act, calling for swift justice and tougher laws to protect families from such acts of violence.
The boy’s family remains in deep mourning as investigations continue.
