Detectives in Nairobi are investigating a shocking incident in which a househelp allegedly stole a pistol, foreign currency, and jewelry from her employer’s lavish home in Kileleshwa before disappearing without a trace.
According to police reports, the theft occurred on Monday, November 3, 2025, when the suspect was left alone at home after her employer and family stepped out for errands.
When the family returned, they discovered that a portable safe containing a Glock pistol loaded with 40 bullets, two magazines, USD 1,950, €600, Sh5,000, assorted jewelry, land title deeds, and electronic gadgets had been stolen.
Investigators say CCTV footage captured the househelp walking out of the compound carrying a carton box, which detectives believe contained the stolen safe.
Security guards at the compound told police they did not raise alarm, assuming the woman had been sent on an errand by her employers.
Nairobi Police Commander George Seda confirmed the incident, saying detectives have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
“We are making efforts to trace the woman for grilling and possible recovery of the weapon and cash,” Seda stated.
Authorities have raised concern that the stolen firearm could be sold to criminals, posing a major security threat in the city.
Police are urging members of the public to report any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of the stolen items.
