Kenyans To Be Denied VISAs if they Abuse President Ruto Online—Mudavadi Says

Prime Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Affairs CS , Musalia Mudavadi has warned Kenyan youth to be careful about what they post online because the government is watching them 24/7.

Speaking on Monday During the Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025 held at Moi University in Eldoret, Mudavadi expressed deep concern about youths misusing online platforms.

Mudavadi reminded social media users that digital footprints have become a key aspect in the issuance of travel documents by several countries.

“We are having serious problems that could hinder your progress. Your digital footprint is very important. It can either ascend you to greater heights, or it can become a bigger problem. There are nations that have made it a requirement to examine your digital platforms before you get a visa to travel. It is no longer fiction,” Mudavadi said.

Mudavadi also took issue with the growing culture of online hostility and personal attacks targeting national leaders.

He cautioned that while it may appear trendy to ridicule government officials such as President William Ruto on social media, such behaviour could have serious consequences, including being denied a visa.

“It may seem fashionable to disparage the president and to ridicule the president and to ridicule Mudavadi and to ridicule every other person because it looks fashionable. But I’m telling you, it will not be fashionable when you find that your visa is being denied,” Mudavadi added.

For the last 3 years, Ruto has been in power; he has faced many challenges, the first one being abused and mocked badly after he ordered the killing of young people during the Gen Z protests that rocked the country on June 25, 25,2024 and June 25, 2025.
