In the early hours of Monday morning, a gang of four men dressed in clothing resembling police jungle uniforms staged a daring robbery at the Stabex Petrol Station in Ziwa, Uasin Gishu County

According to reports, the robbers stormed the station, tied up staff members, and made away with an undisclosed amount of cash and several mobile phones.

A boda boda rider who arrived at the station to refuel raised the alarm after finding two attendants locked inside their office, shouting for help.

He quickly reported the matter to officers at Ziwa Police Station, prompting an immediate response.

Police led by OCS Chief Inspector Nabwire rushed to the scene, where they found the night guard, Kelvin Kipkirui, tied up and hidden under a parked lorry.

His hands and right leg had been bound with a yellow manila rope, and he complained of chest injuries after one of the robbers allegedly stepped on him during the attack.

Two fuel attendants, Kelvin Kipkemei and Kelvin Kemboi, were also found tied up and locked inside the station office.

They told police that four armed men ordered them to lie down and threatened them against raising the alarm before breaking into the safe room and stealing an unknown amount of money.

The suspects also made away with three mobile phones, including a Samsung A16 valued at KSh36,000 and a Neon handset used for M-Pesa transactions.

Police revealed that the gang had disabled both the alarm system and CCTV cameras before executing the heist—an indication that the attackers were likely familiar with the petrol station’s layout and operations.

The scene was processed, and investigations are ongoing. No arrests have been made so far.
