Boniface Mwangi Raises Alarm Over Kenyans Stranded in Russian Military, Claims Kenyan Embassy in Moscow Has Refused to Help Them

Activist Boniface Mwangi has expressed concern over the welfare of several Kenyans reportedly serving in the Russian military, alleging that some are stranded in Western Russia and awaiting deployment to the frontline.

In a post shared on his X account, Mwangi said he has been in contact with a group of Kenyans currently in Russia who allegedly sought assistance from the Kenyan embassy in Moscow without success.

According to Mwangi, the individuals asked that their names be made public.

He identified them as Nicholas Kaino Kiprotich, Samuel Maina Kariuki, and Kelvin Lemashon.

Mwangi claimed the three are currently in Taunishevka, Western Russia, and are waiting to be deployed.

He further alleged that none of their friends who had previously been sent to the frontline had returned alive.

In his post, the activist referenced a video showing a group of Kenyans before deployment, stating that two of them, identified as David and Reuben, are now deceased.

The claims come amid growing concern over reports that Kenyans have been recruited into the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

A recent National Intelligence Service (NIS) report tabled in Parliament indicated that more than 1,000 Kenyans may have been enlisted, with many allegedly lured by rogue agents promising lucrative job opportunities abroad.

Authorities have previously cautioned Kenyans against falling victim to fraudulent overseas recruitment schemes, particularly those linked to conflict zones.
