A wave of relief is sweeping across Kajiado County, Kiambu County and Nairobi following the decisive arrest of key suspects linked to a string of robbery with violence and murder incidents that had cast a dark shadow over traders in recent weeks.

For months, wines and spirits outlets across these counties lived in fear.

A ruthless gang—armed with crude weapons and moving with calculated precision—would strike swiftly, dispossessing traders of cash and stock, vandalizing premises, and in some heart-breaking instances, leaving behind a trail of destruction and tragedy.

What appeared at first to be isolated incidents soon revealed a chilling pattern: coordinated surveillance, targeted attacks, and an organized chain for disposal of stolen goods.

In a meticulous, intelligence-led operation, the net finally tightened. Peter Muhia Njenga, believed to be the mastermind and chief coordinator of the illicit network, was smoked out of his hideout in Nakuru County and apprehended after weeks of forensic tracking and surveillance.

His arrest marked a critical breakthrough in unmasking the structure of the criminal enterprise.

Hot on his trail were his alleged accomplices. John Mugo Nderito, suspected to be the notorious receiver and distributor of the stolen alcoholic consignments, was arrested in Ruiru.

Elisha Njeri Katito, the alleged owner of vehicles used for surveillance, getaway missions and transportation of stolen goods, was also cornered and arrested in the Juja area.

The arrests dismantled what investigators believe was the logistical backbone of the operation. Following the apprehensions, victims of robbery with violence from Ongata Rongai and Karen have streamed to Kikuyu Police Station to positively identify their recovered property.

Among the items presented are assorted alcoholic products bearing unique identification marks placed by traders. Meanwhile, forensic experts from the DCI’s Photographic Imaging and Acoustics Unit are intensifying efforts to retrieve and analyze CCTV footage from affected outlets.

The visual and acoustic evidence will play a crucial role in corroborating witness statements and strengthening the prosecution’s case.

The suspects are currently guests of the State as processing and arraignment procedures are finalized. Police stations handling related incidents have been notified to support the ongoing probe, as authorities work to ensure no victim is left unheard and no lead unpursued.

The DCI commends members of the public who shared vital information concerning these cases, since security is a shared responsibility, and together we are dismantling organized crime one syndicate at a time.
