Shock has gripped JCM Church Ruiru following the dramatic resignation of Pastor Charles Wachira, just hours before a highly anticipated visit by President William Ruto.
In a strongly worded statement, Pastor Wachira announced that he had stepped down from his role at JCM United States, citing what he described as serious concerns over leadership principles and recent public engagements that have unsettled many believers, particularly members of Gen Z.
“The church must never appear indifferent to the pain of the people,” Pastor Wachira stated, quoting scripture as he called for justice, accountability, and moral clarity during what he termed a sensitive season in Kenya.
His resignation has sparked widespread reactions online and within church circles, with some praising what they see as a bold and principled stand.
President Ruto’s planned visit to JCM Church has also unsettled a section of congregants and members of the public, with critics accusing Bishop Kiengei of using the pulpit to bolster the President’s image.
Bishop Kiengei, who has previously been a vocal critic of President Ruto, has in recent months appeared to soften his stance, a shift that has fueled murmurs and speculation among followers.
