Former Mukurweini MP Kabando wa Kabando has sparked political debate after claiming that President William Ruto will struggle to secure even 3 percent of the vote in the Mt Kenya region in the 2027 General Election.
In a bold statement, Kabando argued that the President’s support in the vote-rich region has significantly dwindled.
His remarks come in response to recent claims by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, popularly known as “Riggy G” or “Gitungati 001”, who had suggested that Ruto may not garner more than 5 percent of the national vote.
Kabando appeared to go even further, narrowing the focus to Mt Kenya and asserting that the President’s numbers could drop below 3 percent in the region.
Kabando credited Gachagua for rallying Mt Kenya residents to the opposition through the “WANTAM” movement.
He noted that Gachagua has emerged as a key political force, attracting both support and criticism, with the government intensifying attacks against him.
