Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to hold a political rally in Kikuyu Constituency this weekend, brushing off alleged threats of disruption and insisting the meeting will go on as scheduled.

Gachagua revealed that the decision followed a meeting with leaders from the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) in Kikuyu, who invited him to address residents.

He confirmed that the rally will take place at Kikuyu Township on Saturday, April 11, 2026, starting at 1:00 PM.

The former Deputy President also noted that principals from the United Alternative Government have been invited to attend the event, in what appears to be a coordinated effort to present a united political front.

However, the planned rally has already sparked tension, with Gachagua alleging that Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah has issued threats aimed at preventing the meeting from taking place.

According to Gachagua, he has been cautioned against proceeding with the rally due to fears of possible violence.

Despite this, he maintained that he will not be intimidated, emphasizing that no individual or leader has the authority to block lawful political activities.

“I have been advised not to be intimidated,” he said, adding that Kikuyu Constituency remains part of Kenya and is governed by the Constitution, which guarantees the right to peaceful assembly and association.

Gachagua further claimed that local leaders had raised concerns over the possible mobilization of goons to disrupt the rally, as well as allegations of compromised police officers being used to frustrate the gathering.

Even so, he expressed confidence that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of attendees. He said organizers are working to secure the event and protect participants from any potential interference.

“The leaders have assured me they will take the necessary steps to secure the meeting and protect participants,” he stated.

Gachagua insisted that their movement to “liberate the country” will not be derailed by threats or intimidation, whether in Kikuyu or across the nation.
