Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has claimed that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership is using vocal Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna to exert political pressure on President William Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a post shared on his X account, Alai suggested that the original intention of a recent National Delegates Conference (NDC) was to remove Sifuna from his position as Secretary General.
However, he claimed that the agenda was later altered, with the issue of his removal dropped during what he referred to as a “Special NDC.”
According to Alai, resolutions earlier passed by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to remove Sifuna were allegedly rejected, raising questions within political circles.
He further alleged that Sifuna, alongside Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, has been involved in actions that could destabilize ODM, yet both have reportedly remained untouched by the party leadership.
“Osotsi and Kibagendi were punished, but nobody has touched Sifuna and Babu,” Alai claimed, suggesting that the two are being tolerated for a part of political reasons.
Alai went on to allege that ODM could be using Sifuna as part of a broader political strategy to apply pressure on President Ruto ahead of the 2027 elections.
“These schemers think they are smart,” he wrote, adding that President Ruto is “smarter” and may ultimately have the last laugh.
