Gloria Orwoba Arrested at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi After Trying to Access Senate—Video

Chaotic scenes unfolded at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi today as Gloria Orwoba, the former UDA-nominated senator, was arrested and physically dragged away by police officers while attempting to access the Senate.

The arrest came just hours after a court ruling reinstated her as a nominated senator for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), following her controversial removal by the party.

Orwoba, who has been locked in a bitter battle with her own party leadership, showed up at Parliament determined to take her seat. But instead of being allowed in, she was met by a heavy police presence that wasted no time bundling her away.

According to eyewitnesses, she was forcibly removed from the premises and detained at the Parliament police station, even as stunned onlookers and fellow parliamentary staff watched in disbelief.

This is the latest twist in a long-running political drama that has seen Orwoba fall in and out of favour with the UDA establishment. Known for her outspoken nature and fearless advocacy, she has often found herself at odds with party bigwigs, leading to her ouster months ago.

But the courts saw things differently. A recent ruling declared her removal invalid and ordered her immediate reinstatement. Despite that legal backing, the executive arm of Parliament seemed unprepared—or unwilling—to let her walk back in.

As of the time of this report, Orwoba remains in custody at the Parliament police station. Her lawyers are said to be on their way to secure her release, with many watching to see whether this constitutional standoff will spiral into a major political crisis.

For now, the halls of Parliament remain silent on the matter—but those who know Gloria Orwoba know she does not go down quietly.
