The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has released images of individuals wanted in connection with alleged criminal activities that took place during recent protests over the high cost of fuel in various parts of the country.

In a statement, the DCI said the suspects are believed to have taken part in acts of robbery with violence, malicious damage to property, arson, looting, and other serious offences witnessed during the demonstrations.

According to investigators, the individuals were captured on camera while allegedly engaging in acts that resulted in the destruction of businesses and public infrastructure.

The incidents also reportedly endangered the lives and safety of members of the public, prompting intensified investigations by law enforcement agencies.

The DCI is now urging members of the public to assist in identifying the suspects. Anyone who recognizes the individuals whose images have been circulated is encouraged to report to the nearest police station or submit information anonymously through the #FichuaKwaDCI platform.

The agency has also provided a toll-free line, 0800 722 203, and WhatsApp number 0709 570 000 for tip-offs.

Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated that while every Kenyan has the constitutional right to peaceful assembly, demonstration, picketing, and petition, any criminal acts committed under the guise of protests will be thoroughly investigated, and perpetrators brought to justice.

Authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining law and order while protecting both public and private property during demonstrations across the country.
