Fresh details have emerged regarding former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s communication with one of the suspects linked to the murder of psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Nthunya Mutiso.
According to the Director of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Gachagua had been in contact with a key suspect as well as the boda boda rider allegedly involved in the fatal shooting.
“Gachagua was in communication with one of the suspects in the Dr Mutiso murder. Gachagua was also in communication with the boda boda rider. Suspects we arrested last evening were on the run, almost crossing the border. Why would a politician want to jeopardise our investigations?” DCI boss Mohamed Amin posed.
However, further details have now emerged explaining why Gachagua was in communication with Daniel Njoroge, the driver of the Prado that blocked Dr Mutiso’s Uber vehicle before she was shot.
Two police officers, Police Constable Elijah Kibelion Kimoi and Police Inspector Kenneth Kipkemboi Sang, have been identified as the ones who pulled the trigger. But investigations suggest they intended to frame Njoroge for the crime.
It is understood that Njoroge reached out to Gachagua and informed him that officers Kimoi and Kipkemboi carried out the killing after being paid by Rose Mbithe Mulwa and her son Chris Mulwa.
Both Mulwa and her son are currently in custody as police continue with their investigations. Gachagua’s communication with Njoroge appears to have been driven by the driver’s attempt to expose the officers behind the murder and clear his own name.
